Had dinner there last night, and I am starting to think that Chenery Park deserves an 'uphill alert'. My last two or three meals have been quite enjoyable, with some real standouts. The southern influenced dishes (gumbo, some of the specials) are particularly good, as is the lamb. Also, I used to think it was a bit pricy for what you got, but perhaps prices have risen less than other neighborhood places of comparable quality, or it is just a reflection of improved food and service, because I now think of it as a relatively good value compared to other comparable Noe/Bernal/Glen Park (ok, well there really isn't anything else comparable in Glen Park) restaurants.
And hubby pronounced the pecan pie we shared for dessert the best he's ever eaten. I wouldn't go that far, but otoh, I can't remember when I've last had a better version! (served as a tartlet, with a perfect crust that made me sit up and take notice, full pecan halves, not too sweet of a glaze, very good vanilla ice cream on top...)
They keep up that level of goodness, they could become a neighborhood favorite of mine. (not necessarily on Tuesday family nights, though they definitely would be for that if I had small kids).
BTW, while waiting for hubby I asked the bartender how crazy it gets on Tuesday, he said families are mostly seated upstairs, and mostly gone by 7:30 p.m., so if that is true, one could either be a part of the action or not depending on one's inclination. He also said that Tuesday nights were one of their biggest nights for sales of both lemonade and for wine by the glass :-).
