Competently made food at reasonable prices, all in the spirit of a bistrot.
Smoked salmon carries a subtle flavour, buoyed with a rich cream with a suggestion of horseradish. Capers add a welcome tangy-ness, and lily-petaled cuts of raw white onion bring a hint of sulphur in sweetness.
Clear butter on the skate wing, fairly silky texture typical of this traditional preparation. The caramelized surface shows slight crispiness, more would have been even better. Accompanied by buttered vegetables and roasted potato.
Macaroons are very good, lovely fillings, shatteringly crisp. Perhaps more centre chewiness would make it perfect, but at these prices I'm not complaining.
