Decided to go to Bistro Vida in Menlo Park last night since I heard they have live French music. We were seated after 20 minutes and got the table right next to live musical performance. The hubby ordered carrot soup and once it arrived we were patiently waiting for the bread so once we asked our waitress for the bread we were told they ran out of bread for the night. WHO RUNS OUT OF BREAD ON A FRIDAY NIGHT??? Well, she gave us a salad instead of the bread (didn't charge it) but the bread would have been nice with the carrot soup which was tasty. For our main course, I had the cassoulet and the hubby a meat plate which was basically the same meat I had in my cassoulet - duck and sausage. The cassoulet was a little runny and the meat was layered on top of the white beans. Not the kind I like - I recall having a good cassoulet at Bistro Clovis in the city.
Dessert - a crepe with strawberries and way too much ice cream stuffed in the crepe. The Tarte Tatin tasted a day old =(
Anyway, we enjoyed the atmosphere but I don't think we'll be back for the food unless perhaps we hear that their brunch is good.
If anyone has any questions about the place, please let me know. I still can't believe the bread incident! =)
