Birthday dinner at Sushi Samba 7

My husband managed to surprise me again and took me to Sushi Samba 7 for my birthday Sat. night. We showed up for our 6:30pm reservations and the place was already busy, esp. the sidewalk spots.

Surprisingly the previous chowhound reviews often mention bad service. We actually had a great waitress on the beautiful rooftop. The greeters could use a swift kick in the head though, "they ain't all that and a bag o' chips."

The assortment of ceviche & tiraditos were phenomenal. The yellowtail in black truffle oil was our favorite. Skip the rolls, you can definitely get better and cheaper elsewhere. This is by no means THE place to get sushi, the ceviche, tiraditos and the cocktails are what's happening.

Finally, we went for full gluttony by ordering the mango cheesecake. Wow, it was really great, truly a memorable dessert, plus the light coconut-mac nut wafers were killer. Gotta hunt down that recipe.

An overall pleasantly memorable experience and definitely a go-back.
