Bilal downhill

Zoe | Jun 7, 200608:59 AM

Big disappointment on Monday night coming from the airport and ordering dinner to go at this formerly delicious food place.

The samosas had been on a diet and were almost unrecognisable as a snack, they were tinsy.

Chicken Birani was, as my Mother would say, very much of the Birani and very little of the chicken and total lack of flavor as opposed to the usual Birani Bilal has served in the past which had snapping delicious bite to it.

Ordered Lamb Korma which was swimming in fat and had much too much bone on the lamb pieces (this is a Halal place and I know the meat is butchered differently keeping in the bone but where was the meat that had been on that bone?)

Naan was mediocre and I didn't fancy it after seeing Bilal (owner's son and name sake of the restaurant) pull out the dough with his bare hands, roll it and plop it into the tandoori oven. He did apologize saying they were very backed up and his parents were out of town. Prices had gone up too; we won't be back. Glad of rec for Bharat Bazaar in CC and will try that.
