I'm planning to buy a spiral sliced ham to feed my husband's family on the Saturday after Christmas. I'll be cooking in my FIL's kitchen so need to limit the drama. How much ham should I figure per person? On line I see anything from 1/4 lb to a whole pound per person.
My husband wanted me to make a turkey, which is traditional in my southern family for Christmas, but in addition to ham being so much easier, I thought his Midwestern family might not care for another turkey meal anyway. What do you think?
Other than ham, I plan to do cheese grits, sweet potato casserole w/ streusel, assorted mustards, biscuits and rolls, fruit salad, green salad and pimento cheese for apps. I'm giving them the full southern treatment except there'll be no coconut cake making in a strange kitchen. sound ok? thanks.
