Thanks for your recent post on the Amazon deal for 4 Riedel Vinum glasses. We've been toying with switching to Riedel for literally years, but couldn't overcome the double barriers of retail cost and trying to decide where to begin. Your post removed both barriers.
Ordered 2 sets of 4 as you suggested. We were surprised as to how broad a range of wines these glasses cover. Yes, magically, they make exactly the same wine tasted in an ordinary glass, taste better. Actually, taste fuller.
Also found a very nice price from Amazon on a set of 6 Spiegelau martini glasses, which hold 6 ounces each. None of our high end glasses ever survived (if you even squint at a Waterford martini glass, it shatters), none of our unbreakable low end glasses ever had any pizzazz. The Spiegelau arrived and, sigh, are just right.
For general info, the sale price is still on. $54 for the 4 Vinum glasses. Believe $36 for the 6 Spiegelau martini glasses. Shipping is free if you allow 9 days delivery. (Sorry, not available on Amazon.co.UK.) Don't even understand this pricing, since Pottery Barn glasses are more.
So here's a grateful toast for you: Let's remember Tommy Lee Jones' line: Big Dog is always right!
