Berlin recommendations, esp. in the west

abby d | Jun 5, 201810:10 AM

I'm in Berlin for a long weekend early August and starting to think about food plans. I have two nights just with my husband and two nights when we'll be catching up with friends and their c7yo. We're staying in Charlottenburg and ideally I'd like one night close to home, as we usually stay and eat in and around Mitte, so it would be nice to get a sense of a different neighbourhood. The rest of the time we're happy to travel around the city.

I've not been to the city for a few years so feel out of date but previous favourites include Muret le Barba (I definitely want to go back and share it with my husband; is it still okay to take kids in the early evening?), Nobelhart & Schmutzig (loved it but don't feel I need to go back - something similar would be great for the two of us), Katz Orange (again, been there, done that). I know I was also at Lokal last time but cannot remember it for the life of me - probably not a good sign...

Having done a bit of research, Cordobar appeals but I'm a bit nervous that they only serve natural wines - is that the case? If we can try by the glass as we go it's fine. I also like the look of Mrs Robinson's and ORA.

I don't think any of those are particularly west or child friendly - any ideas so I can expand my list of options? Perhaps Papaya or Dao for Thai in Charlottenburg? or Mine for Italian (that seems a bit dull though)? V happy to be put off places too!

Bars in Charlottenburg would also be great, although I've not looked at this myself yet, to ask for feedback. Lunches will probably be Asian or Turkish options close to wherever we happen to be.

Thanks.
