berkshire restaurant

Not long ago a positive note was posted for a restaurant [Trattoria Il Vesuvio in Lenox Mass. A recent visit by my wife and myself requires us to vote it down. Listed offerings included 2 classic preparations - chicken aaltimbocca and pasta putenesca. Neither was prepared or served in anything approaching an acceptable manner. The chicken was a single, un-browned cutlet in a puddle of watery, yellow liquid; nothing else on the plate. It was either nuked or steamed and had a very thin slice of ham and some kind of cheese inserted in a slit through the middle. The cook insisted it was real prosciutto and everything "was fresh" - which is hardly the point when the dish is tasteless and looks and tastes like cafeteria food. The putenesca had no anchovies, no garlic - just olives and capers in a basic marinara sauce. To give credit to them the chicken was taken off the check but that is only a token as the diner is left with no meal and with a "damaged" evening out. There are any number of very good restaurants in Lenox eg Bistro Zinc and Cafe Lucia being only two to waste money and time here.
