Two NYers visiting the North Cali area for the week. We want to spend Sept. 11 away from NY for the first time since 2001 and thought this was a good day trip.

I had read that Cafe Rouge was a good place to eat dinner. We want good, rustic eats with salads and fishes and steaks.

But we plan on getting there early to see the markets, etc. Any other places to recommend? Should we change the reservation at Cafe Rouge? I have heard and read all the Chez Panisse stuff.

I am a cheese fiend so I am sure I will find some good stuff there.

Any other suggestions for what to do during the day is appreciated and even if a night-time thing also, where to get an after dinner drink? Live music?
