After a 45 minute wait at Sea Salt last night, I was excited to see whole belly clams on the chalkboard specials. They were delicious and tender. I may have to go back again today for some more. I wanted to share the news with any New England transplants and other fans of the whole belly clam. This was such a treat. Now, if they served a bucket of steamers (soft shell clams), this would be clam nirvana, but this will do for now.
P.S. The wait this year appeared to be better than last year. It seemed to go a lot quicker. Sipping on a glass of wine and chatting with John Blood's mom, Sally, helped the time go by too (yes, she was waiting in tline with the rest of us). They've expanded the prep area to help keep the line moving. They've also added broiles (broiled oysters) to the permament menu- no longer just a special.
