I had to post about this because I was so shocked: sitting in the stands at Fenway Park (good seats, but not a luxury box or the EMC Paviliion or any of those), a vendor came by with a tray of beer for sale. I said, "Whaaa? I don't think I've ever seen beer sold in the stands here." "First time in 30 years it's been done", the vendor replied.
I bought four on the spot: $6.75 Bud Lite in cans, poured into plastic cups, plus a $5 tip, or $8 a pop. Worth it to me for the sheer novelty (though it was also hot as a bugger). If they start bringing better beer, they might actually close a gap with every other major league ballpark in the league.
Thanks to the NY Times' recent review of MLB ballpark food www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/06/0... , I became aware of the Kettle Corn stand in the Big Concourse back behind the right field corner. This stand briefly disappeared early this year before a hue and cry from fans brought it quickly back. $6 for about a bushel of very good, freshly made kettle corn (another treat I only recently discovered), salty and sweet. A pretty good deal by Fenway standards.
