Master chef (IMHO) of beer cuisine Bruce Paton of the Cathedral Hill Hotel has just announced his next "Dinner with the Brewmaster" event featuring Marin Brewing. This was to have been in late July, but it was cancelled, to my great disappointment, since I had to leave SF three weeks later.
Even though I won't be able to attend, Bay Area Chowhounds who like craft beer and Euro-influenced California cuisine will likely be interested in this event. I have attended several over the years, and have never been disappointed, particularly since it costs only $55 including tax and tip, and the beer and food presented have always been far more than I could reasonably consume.
The dinner is on Friday, October 24, reception from 6:30, dinner from 7:30. Here's what you get:
1st Course: Lobster Cocktail with Heirloom Tomatoes, Avocado Mousse and Grapefruit Oil; paired with Mount Tam Pale Ale
2nd Course: Mixed Grill of Duck Confit, Braised Pork and Petite Flat Iron Steak with Truffled Fingerling Potatoes, Watercress and House Made Barbecue Sauces; paired with Point Reyes Porter
3rd Course: Selection of Artisanal Cheeses; paired with Old Dipsea Barleywine
Chef Paton *really* knows his cheeses, and they are a regular feature as a dessert. Usually I am so stuffed by this point that I take most of the cheeses home.
Those interested must reserve by Oct. 17th

The hotel is at 1101 Van Ness Avenue at Geary
