OK - I get to pick where the boyfriend takes me for my birthday dinner....I want it to be novel/exciting/tasty but not too boring (ie - I will not be going to Canoe, although if someone says something fantastic about it, I'll reconsider).
I have been curious about Susur, but not sure if I want to eat super expensive Asian food all night (I am Asian, and am very curious about what Susur does) - is the tasting menu extensive and filling, or will I yearn for more after I'm done? I know he does the reverse tasting menu, blah blah blah. Just wondering if he is still 'relevant' or if anyone has eaten there lately.
I've been to Splendido and would probably like it - this is my second choice, pending on whether you guys give absolute kudos to Susur or not... I just want to make sure I am eating enough! I am sure Splendido would make my tummy happy, but I must know about Susur first.
As a side note, what's the deal with Rain? I see the Rubinos all the time around town (they're stalking me), but I'm afraid to go to Rain because I could probably get it in Chinatown for cheaper, and in bigger portions. Can anyone provide more insight?
