Bayless Awarded Mexico's Order of the Aztec Eagle

DiningDiva | Jun 7, 2012 07:50 AM

Mexico's highest award for foreigners is the Order of the Aztec Eagle. The 2012 recipients were announced yesterday (or maybe it was Tuesday) and among them was Rick Bayless who was cited for the contributions he's made in promoting and advancing Mexican cuisine

Also awarded the Order of the Aztec Eagle this year is Deborah Szekely the founder of Rancho la Puerta in Tecate, which is consistently rated as one of the top spas in the world. I mention this because the food at RLP is all organic, vegetarian - and often vegan - and much of it sustainably grown on the ground at RLP or at farms owned by the Ranch. It is truly farm-to-table in the truest sense of the word, and the food is spectacular. If I could cook like they do, I'd have no problem being a vegetarian :-).
