I'll be in Atlanta for a conference this weekend. i was there for similar reasons a couple of weeks ago. I was in awe of the Buford Hwy scene--I adore C'om--and will be checking out other recs i've gleaned from this board (including Chef Liu's).
Midtown, however, was a drag. Are there any cool bars--say, locally owned places with character, not soulless corporate places? Or decent local food?
Going beyond mid-town, to where does one repair for a pint? Or a good cup of locally roasted coffee?
Reasonably priced restaurant where the chef takes pride in local ingredients?
note that I am on a budget, not an expense account.
