Best Barbecue in Milwaukee

John Beadle | Jul 27, 2002 07:01 PM

I caught the post about Saz's barbecued ribs in Milwaukee. I agree, they're good, but for my money (and that of many other locals) the best BBQ in Milwaukee can be found at Speed Queen Barbecue. Here's the address:

Speed Queen BBQ
1130 W. Walnut St.
Milwaukee, WI

The ribs are the good chewy kind, but my menu favorite is the outside pork shoulder - pure crunchy bliss! Speed Queen offers two sauces - a basic red sauce that is tasty enough, and a fiery-hot mustard-based yellow sauce that'll make you sweat the moment it touches your tongue. A lot of people ask for "mixed" sauces with their order. What I did was, I got a bottle of the hot stuff to add to my order to taste.

I can recommend everything on the menu here. I would say the barbecued beef is a little undistinguished. Nothing really in the way of "sides," just standard-issue cole slaw and wonder bread to soak up the sauce.
