Hoping to buy Berbere, the Ethiopian spice blend discussed in last week's Sunday Times Magazine, I purchased Baharat because I didn't write down the name before I went to Kalustyan's. Whoops. So now I have a spice blend that includes (in this order) Cardamom, Clove, Pepper, Cinnamon, Corriander, Cumin and Nutmeg. Anyone have any experience with this blend? Any ideas? Sounds like it would be good for rubbing on Lamb or Chicken cutlets, but cardamom as the first ingredient sounds a little funny to me.
