Bad experience at Komi

I went to DC for the weekend and met friends at Komi for dinner. It was my recommendation after having visited this board.

We had a terrible meal (will never go back) and an overall disappointing experience.

The first issue is that the AC was allegedly broken and the seating area was almost unbearable. However, if you ventured back to the kitchen area (a little past the restrooms) it was cool and comfortable. We complained and the waitress kept saying it would get cool soon. It never did.

My husband's corn soup tasted like what you would imagine Old Spice might taste like were it liquified. I had the sardines which I expected to be lightly fried. They came out heavily coated in fried batter. I could have had better at Red Lobster!

My salmon was slimy and bland and my husband's lamb was also tasteless.

When we left it was a relief to go out into the cool night. We were all sweaty.

I wasn't surprised...just disappointed. I have similar problems (not the AC issue) with other DC restaurants. They generally try too hard and end up failing.
