As a loyal patron of Baby Bo's restaurant on 2nd ave between 34th and 35th, I always looked forward to my weekly visits for the reasonably-priced comfort food (enchiladas chipotle or beef and chicken fajitas), good music, and the low-key, unpretentious, charming environmet, all of which always made me leave with a smile.
I am crestfallen at their decision to completely change the menu. They have become fancier, more expensive and less tasty in my opinion. I went with my boyfriend the other night(also a loyal fan) to check out the new menu. The first disappointment was the salsa - what used to be freshly chopped and spicily delicious, now is pureed and sort of tomato-soup tasting. We ordered the Colorado enchiladas with Barbacoa beef and the Niman Ranch pork tacos. Both were ok, but our bill came out to WAY more than usual and the menu has taken on a pretentiousness that turned me off completely.
We are so sad. Baby Bo's was my favorite neighborhood restaurant in NYC... it was easy, consistent and not too expensive and I feel as though I've lost a best friend.
I'm writing this today in the hopes that there are several other loyal fans of Baby Bo's out there who feel abandoned and let down by these changes. If so, write a response - if I get enough, I'm going to put them together and take them in to the Manager. I PROTEST!
