Just arrived back from a NYC trip where I had dinner at Babbo, Grammercy Tavern, Etats Unis, and Artisanal.
I was reading through some posts about the waiters at Babbo and I have to say they are pretty curt. I don't really like over solicitous service but I do want to feel welcome in a restaurant. The food did make up for it though.
Grammercy Tavern is hands down the best over-all dining experience among these restaurants.
Etat Unis had good food though the decor could be improved, and Artisanal is absolute heaven for cheese lovers. Their fondue is excellent, though entrees like the Duck l'orange were just okay. (I must say, the cheese cart at Grammercy is also pretty amazing.)
