Thanks so all the folks who told me to go to Palena for my birthday. It was a great meal.

I did the 3 courses and had:
-Lobster salad with beets, radishes, and pears (SO GOOD!)
-Trumpet mushroom soup with celeriac and a coddled egg in the middle
-Venison wrapped in pancetta with pureed celeriac

Hubby had:
-Gnocchi with a ragu sauce (ethereally light)
-Duck breast with spinach, white beans and tiny turnips (the BEST duck I have EVER had)
-a merangue halved and filled with cashews and cashew butter with dark chocolate sorbet on the side

They even gave me a piece of lemon cake with a candle in it.

It was great. The waiter was attentive but not too attentive. You know, I grew up in Cleveland Park and that space used to be occupied by Kenny Rogers Roasters and its so close to the gas station. I always was a little a little wary but I'll be back at palena for my anniversary.
