Avatar's Punjabi Burrito | Mill Valley

Melanie Wong | Apr 19, 201702:48 AM

On National Burrito Day (April 6), I headed to Marin for some Avatar-style "ethnic confusion" instead of grabbing a Mission burrito. I had been a fan of the local chain's now-closed Petaluma branch, and this was my first visit to the Mill Valley location. It's cash only and tiny with only four two-tops inside and a couple chairs on the sidewalk. So consider this for take-out. Also, the menu is more limited than the other branches. A couple customers were disappointed to learn that the enchiladas are not available here.

My something a little different was a freshly made whole wheat paratha filled with garbanzo bean curry, smoked eggplant, basmati rice, curried ground lamb, tamarind sauce, fruity chutney and yogurt, then mummified in aluminum foil. Quite hefty, and as delicious as my memories. Enough for two meals, this Punjabi burrito set me back $9+.
