New Authentic Mexican in Clearwater / Largo

On Lakeview just east of Highland Ave, 1510 Lakeview Clearwater, FL 33756 to be exact, there is a restaurant named Lakeview Grill. It used to be Greek and they still have the Greek items and American items, but a really nice Mexican family has bought the place and they make some of the best and most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten outside of Mexico. The tacos have handmade tortillas that are to die for. This is not a Tex-Mex place and not Carmelita’s folks, but it is CHEAP AUTHENTIC Mexican food. The tacos were fresh and tasty, packed with steak and laced with fresh cilantro and sweet onions. The quesadillas my wife had were stuffed with large grilled white breast meat chicken chunks. The salsa was excellent, although it may not be to your taste because it is not thick and chunky, but more the authentic style of a thin tomato based salsa with fresh cilantro garnish. The frijoles (beans) were some of the best I have ever had, rich and smooth, but not salty or greasy tasting. The rice was good; not my favorite, but I am not a big rice fan anyway. They have some of their own specialty sauces. The Negra Modelo was ice cold. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The service was spectacular, the place clean, the prices super low, and the cooking fast. I hope everyone supports this family in their business venture. They treated us as if we had stepped into their home for dinner.
