It was a lot quicker getting to Austin than anticipated--and we were starving--so we didn't make it as far north as Dot's Place before we just HAD to stop! Next trip! BUT, thanks to Rudeboy and Greg Spence, we had an absolutely great time with wonderful chow! First stop was Opal Divine's for a Hendrick's martini for one of us and a new discovery--Junipero gin made by Anchor Steam of all things!--for the other accompanied by the excellent french fries with black pepper! A winning combination enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine at a picnic table! Ya'll gave perfect directions as we continued on 6th until we reached the appropriate cross street to get to 5th and the super recommendation of Castle Hill Cafe! Wow! I had the chicken enchiladas suizas which were packed with flavors.....or so I thought until I tried my husband's pecan crusted pork tenderloin in redeye gravy with molasses glaze! Boy! One of the most flavorful dishes EVER! And the sweet potato tamale that accompanied it was just the perfect bit of sweetness to offset the spicy zings going on with the pork. It was all terrific, including the poblano-pecan vinaigrette on the salad and the BV Tapestry we shared at an unbelievably reasonable price. Service was super, friendly and efficient. What a treat, and thanks so much for your time and input, Hounds!!
