Auspicious Trip to El Rancho Grande

In Day Square in East Boston, just accross the street from Uncle Pete's, is El Rancho Grande, a tiny hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant which was very promising on today's first visit.

I only had time for a quick taco-to-go. Carnitas (roast pork) was delicious. Pleasantly fatty, full of flavor, and adorned (as is customary) with fresh cilantro, the taco was wonderful. Comparable in quality to Tacos Lupita. What's more, my take-out order of one measly taco came with a whole bunch of delicious fresh corn tortilla chips, and a side of salsa fresca, which was so vibrant and tasty, it must have been made this morning. All for $1.50!

I can't vouch for the rest of the menu (yet), but this is definitely a promising start! Looks like there might be some seafood worth trying . . .
