asiana buffet asheville - review

Friday I had an occasion to go to Asiana Buffet (Smoky Park) for an awards ceremony. After its' enthusiastic mention by Greenville's Michael B. I thought, perhaps I've been too hard on the whole concept of buffets...perhaps I ought to give them another chance...perhaps they aren't that bad...Well, I was wrong, or rather, my suspicions were correct. Asiana Buffet is basically glorified feed troughs for humans. On this particular Friday nite the place was packed. Sadly I'd say that about 75% or more of the patrons were overweight or morbidly obese. There was lots of food, no, TONS of food and some of it was even ok. The salad was brown or yellow - the stuff that was supposed to be green and virtually ignored. Meanwhile I watched as everything that was fried was refilled repeatedly. Jostling seniors and kids to get at oysters, or sushi isn't my idea of a meal. It's more reminiscent of cafeteria dining in college. The place was noisy and for 4 of us( 3 adults and 1 child, plus 3 beers and 1 soda) the price was $72. I think there is better food, service and certainly atmosphere to be had in Asheville at the same price or a lower price.
