Went out tonight for Chinese (yes, one of those sushi bars with Chinese and Thai food...I know, I know, but it's usually pretty good, and there's not much other non-chain choice close to us)
Ordered one of the house specialties, which was Pan-Fried Noodles with Seafood. When it arrived, it looked awesome -- bright-green fresh veg (spring onions, snow peas, asparagus), and mushrooms in a translucent sauce over pale-yellow noodles.
The shrimp and scallops were excellent -- perfectly done. The squid was attractively crosshatched, but rather unfortunately overcooked to rubber (tasted good, but tough -- that one I know was a misstep in the kitchen).
But the rice noodles underneath (which were angel-hair size)were hard and crunchy. Not tender and oily (I was expecting something like the noodles in mei fun; hubby was thinking larger noodles like lo mein) -- but these even tasted raw. By the time we finished the seafood and veggies, they were soft, but still tasted raw.
Did we miss something in the description, or was this a foul by the restaurant? We ate the seafood and the veggies, and they were really very good. Didn't say anything as we like the place, we were satisfied without eating the veg, and since we'd tried a dish we were unfamiliar with, weren't sure if we actually SHOULD have complained.
