Ashoka Canton, MI VS Ashoka Troy, MI

Is there any point of going to the Troy location if I've been to the Canton location?

My wife and I finally made it out to Ashoka in Canton last night. The first thing I do is use the restroom to wash my hands. I am greeted by fly strips and standing water in the bathroom. Now I blow this off because maybe it was a broken pipe etc.

We started with the Ahsoka Special assortment appetizer consisting of pakora, samosa, and some fried chiles that I forget the name of. They are acceptable (we weren't given any sauces or chutneys). Our food comes and my Aloo Gobi looks good albeit different than most places I have ordered it. My wife's butter chicken looks good. Both dishes were good not great but most assuredly not bad. But there was a first for me and maybe the handful of Indian places I have eaten at are different. But Ashoka is the first Indian restaurant where I was served plain old normal long grain rice. I have to say Basmati rice and Naan are two of my favorite things about Indian food. So to be given plain long grain rice I was disappointed. My wife ordered her entree mild and I chose medium. Neither had the least bit of heat. Normally I will ask for mine hot but at a new place I always go down a notch on the heat scale until I have an idea of the chef's idea of hot lol. I will say the service was not spectacular I had no complaints.

I would recommend Shalimar and Madras Masala in Downtown Ann Arbor over Ashoka in Canton everyday of the week.

Thank you,

Foog
