Artisanal bread in OC?

Midlife | Jul 30, 2005 09:22 PM

Is anyone familiar with small, local artisanal bread makers in OC, particularly South OC? I don't mean places like Panera, I mean locally owned/run small bakeries that do delicious, rustic style breads.

There seem to be a number of pastry shops but, unless I'm missing it, they don't make breads. I've seen Asian bakeries that make bread items, but no shops that sell the kinds of delicious crusty breads the better markets are now carrying (though most of these are not as good as they could be). Googling hasn't helped either. Thanks.
