Did anyone see the BBJ article on the front page, "Chain Reaction, Once-snubbed city is luring retail giants"? It's all about how national chains are taking interest in the Baltimore area and making the town seem less "gritty" and more mainstream. The most disappointing example is the Outback coming to The Can Company in Canton.
The article considers the trend very positive, but I'm afraid that Baltimore will lose it's distinctive character.
To the Chowhound Team: This is not another rant about chain restaurants, but a heads-up on the potential effects of the current trend on Baltimore's truly Chow-worthy establishments.
