My wife and I dined at the supposedly "all you could drink champaigne" Thanksgiving Day dinner at Aroma in Shirlington. The food was passable, if a bit cold, but the servers were stingy with the champaigne; we ordered a final "top off" after paying the check and were ignored with extreme prejudice. Also, one of the patrons picked up a plate from the serving area and put it back..pretty gross. In contrast, the Bombay and Delhi Clubs are much better in terms of food, atmosphere and service. Shirlington restaurants, except for The Carlyle, seem to be wallowing in mediocrity of late; and even that restaurant has no "happy hour" and has long discontinued its "early bird" specials which were a great pre-theatre option. Clarendon, restaurants, particularly Tallula, and the triangle around Delhi Club, Clare and Don's, and the new Milano off shoot, Setto Bello(?), are fare surpassing Shirlington IMHO.
