Aroma Cafe, tujunga, pretty bad cupcakes

kevin | Jun 12, 200601:01 AM

I don't usually like to give out bad reviews. But this time, the food here really irked me. Went inside the joint, a place a lot like Alcove on Hillhurst (at least i think they're connected) and presumed the had those Auntie Em's cupcakes, anyways, saw some very mini-red velvet cupcakes and some others like strawberry buttercream with chocolate cake. Anyways, I hope these really weren't Auntie Em's in actuality because they were both atrociously bad. Both cupcakes I had including the mini- red velvet and the strawberry-chocolate made the the cupcakes at Sprinkles look and taste like soft, most, well-modulated and not too sweet pieces of pure delicious Valhalla. The strawberry chocolate cupcake here was even worse, it tasted worse than one of those child's Happy Birthday cakes that you get from a third rate bakery or a local supermarket. Truly bad stuff, and to add insult to injury the cupcakes (which should cost about no more than 75cents a piece) ran me 5 bucks for the two of them. The red velvet I did eat even though it was way below average and the other was so bad I just chucked (I don't think auntie em's are the best cupcakes in town, but these at Aroma were awful). Sorry about the bad review, just telling it like it is.
