Help please - appropriately festive 50th bday party restaurant

Merle | Dec 18, 2005 07:47 PM

Dear hounds,
looking for a delicious and celebratory venue to help a friend celebrate his 50th. There will be four of us, including one 16 year old. I'd rather not spend more than $100 per person, although it may go above a bit as a bottle of champagne is in order. Some thoughts include:
Blue Ginger
Hammersley's
Craigie St
Mistral
Salts
Upstairs on the square
Blue Room
Salts
Via Matta'Meritage
Campagna
Troquet
Clio? - don't think in price range
Problem is I don't get out much, so even though I can get a sense of the menu, I don't know the feel of these places. Could you please help? Birthday is shortly after the new year on a Sunday. Thanks so much...
