We are building a semi-custom home and get to pick out our appliances. The builder only gives an $1100 allowance (which will get pretty much nothing decent I know). We went to Sears and looked around and got overwhelmed pretty quickly.
So, what should we look for with new appliances? We will need a range (gas), dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator. We would like stainless steel.
I like the idea of those ranges with two ovens since we frequently just do one baking sheet of whatever at a time, but I also worry about the larger oven not being able to fit a turkey. I also would like a french door refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom and water/ice dispenser, we currently have a side by side and do not want that again. Just need a basic microwave and decent dishwasher that is on the quieter side since it's an open floor plan.
The house is in a price point that is above average for the area by about $100,000, but by no means is it a high end home. So the appliances needn't be of the Viking/Wolf etc variety, but something nicer than the builder basic Frigidaire is appropriate. Maybe looking at the 4-5k range for all? Is that realistic?
So CHers, what recommendations do you have?
