Antigua, GT: Dona Luisa Xicotencatl – excellent “pumpkin” pie

I love the baked goods here. It is my favorite bakery in Antigua. On every visit so far, there has been one item that pleasantly surprised me and knocked my socks off.

Some bakery items include: whole wheat bread, carrot cake, raisin bread, zepelins (banana bread) and cookies.

The restaurant has mainly a coffee shop menu: sandwiches, salads, burgers, soup and baked stuffed potatoes. Sandwiches and toast use the great house-baked bread. They are listed as a customer of Caoba Farms, an organic farm near Antigua.

There is only beer but the restaurant allows you to bring your own bottle of wine. My only nit with them is they only offer bottled water and none by the glass.

There are a lot of desserts on the menu such as a chocolate cake sundae with vanilla and coffee ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce and almonds. There are regular sundaes and banana splits.

The restaurant opens at 7 am and serves breakfast.
