Im accompanying my Mom on an Holland America Alaska cruise/tour next month. Ive looked over the itinerary/timetable (which is pretty rushed and packed) and it seems like I should not expect much in the way of food exploration and delicious meals for these two weeks, though I am looking forward to some fresh alaska fish and seafood..

Before we set off we will be in Anchorage (downtown hotel) for a night. Im thinking I should book ahead given the cruise crowd. Is there anything folks particularly recommend walking distance from that area? Im looking for local product focus and/or very good tasting cooking - alcohol not a priority with a 90 year old and a teetotaler as companions. Had thought maybe Bridge Seafood, Marx Bros or Sacks

Recommendations for Denali /Fairbanks also appreciated though we wont have any local transport.
