I popped into Ammo last night after a play. When I called earlier in the evening to inquire about how late they serve food on the weekends (10:30pm), I also asked if I'd need a reservation if I showed up for last call. I was told that I would, which surprised me but I was glad I made one because it was hopping at 10:15 when we showed up. Interesting mix of couples on dates, foodie friends (i'm guessing) and big groups of people. It took about 10 minutes to get our table, but they were moving as fast as they could. We immediately received bread and garlic crisps, which were very tasty. We watched a delicious looking steak being paraded through the kitchen, so it was not difficult to decide what to order for an entree. The steak was cooked perfectly rare, as ordered it, and served with blue cheese topped crispy potatoes. Excellent. The halibut tartar appetizer was quite nice, very refreshing and paired well with the pinot grigio we had ordered. It was served in a thick mound and nicely arranged on the plate. For dessert, we were able to migrate to an outside table. We went with the signature chocolate souffle, which was just the right consistency. Overall, the service was very nice, prompt and professional. The atmosphere is simple but comfortable. I highly recommend.
