Amici's - Shelton, CT

I searched both the Southern NE and archived NE threads for Amici's reviews and found nothing. I am sorry if I missed something.

Just wanted to send a recent review. I went with 19 others from my department last night (5PM on a Wednesday) for a post-holiday party. We pre-ordered some hot antipasto trays for the table and off the menu for our entrees and desserts. The antipasto tray was delicious stuffed mushrooms (excellent), fried mozz, fried calamari, mussels, grilled shrimp, and maybe something else; I cannot recall for sure. I realize this was a big party, but I just had to compliment this restaurant on Howe Avenue in Shelton, CT. The service was very good. The good looking italian waiters were very attentative without being annoying. The only comment I had was that they called out each of our orders upon delivery, but I think that was because we were a very loud talkative bunch. They were sure to offer everyone fresh ground pepper and fresh ground parmesan. And the warm bread was served warm with nice thick Arthur Avenue style crust. The salad was basic but fresh, cold and crisp with a housemade creamy italian or balsamic vinaigrette. Everything was cooked beautifully to order and arrived hot and at the same time. The menu was your basic italian with some very nice beef selections and evening specials. I loved the dim lighting in the restaurant; I definitely would like to go back for a romantic dinner with my husband. The prices were very good and comparable to every other Italian restaurant in the area. I had shrimp florentine that were melt in your mouth (much moreso than the grilled shrimp on the antipasto tray) and had all the tails removed (YES!) with a very nicely cooked spinach accompaniment; I asked for it over linguini which they willingly obliged. I cannot personally speak to the others' entrees in my party, but I did not hear any complaints but lots of oohs and ahhs, and I must say that everyone else's dishes looked delicious, especially those who ordered the filet mignon or steak offerings. I had a wonderful tiramisu for dessert--I paid the price as I was awake until about 2:30 AM trying to sleep after getting that espresso jolt. The desserts were all $6 and were a nice varied selection. On the way out, I exited through the bar, which also looked extremely inviting for a quick weeknight dinner at the bar. Sorry, I cannot speak to the wine list either as I do not drink.

Overall, this is a very nice option other than Biageo's in Stratford for instance, which I also enjoy, but this is good for those who may live or work in Shelton and may be sick of Il Palio.

Oh, and there is a lot in the back for parking or you can park at the bank after 5PM if you can't find a spot on the road.
