I hate to nail this wonderful (sometimes) neighborhood restaurant but it has more than its share of snarlpusses at the counter. I thought restauranteurs were pleased to see people come and eat at their place and might even smile once in a while. Not here. Argumentative, not getting the order right and then sloshing raita OVER the salad instead of putting it in a little dish (we always serve it liked that - NO you don't, YES we do, etc).
A list of specials was posted outside and I chose the lamb curry (as opposed to the lunch mutton curry which is really goat - are you with me?) This dish came with either rice or naan for $8.50. I chose naan which was like the flour and water dampers I used to make on a stick at girl scout camp. My partner gave me some rice from a more bounteous chicken tandoori plate which also had its problems of being reheated chicken which had been tandooried in the distant past. The samosas with channa were outstanding (although we ordered chicken not potato).
The lunch was almost $30 sans tip because the drinks are $3 for limeade and $4 for an almond shake (that WAS good). Overall I wish we had gone to Jaipur again for the pleasant ambiance, good buffet selections, cloth napkins and some light chamber music in the background - oh and the woman greeting you is just charming and the lunch buffet is $7 or so.
