Amazing Filipino Food - Kababayan

Hidden in this unassuming store front is some remarkable chow.

I think they do mostly lunch.

All items served from a hot table, though I think you can also order other items as I saw a woman eating a whole fried fish.

I had the "pick 3 item with rice" lunch plate and went with:
- Shredded banana flower with fish, complex delicate savory, amazing texture, wow!
- Vegetables with coconut milk: Kabocha squash and string beans with one nice big shrimp. Very delicate subltly done coconut milk sauce.
- Chicken in brown sauce, stewed drumstick chunks that had obviously been braised for a nice while in the rich savory sauce. Perfectly done.

I was really, really impressed with the meal. Earlier in the day I had passed a few ther Filipino places and the quality just did not look as good. As soon as I took a peek at the hot table at this place it was clear the food was something special.

Wish I was in town for a few more days (I'm in from Boston) I would definitely hit it again.
