Amazing dinner at Mandalay

Maya | Feb 22, 2004 06:48 PM

Last night I went with a friend to Mandalay, at 6th and California. I had been to (and loved) Burma Superstar but thought I should try a new place. The food was incredible, I found the ingredients fresher than at Burma Superstar, and the atmosphere was much more pleasant.

We had the tea leaf salad (a staple, and delicious rendition); mango prawns, with perfectly firm, ripe fresh mangoes sauteed with lightly breaded prawns and green onions; chicken with broccoli and candied walnuts (all tender white meat); the pan fried green beans with garlic and chili, and coconut rice. All the food was outstanding, the service friendly and efficient (though a bit on the slow side). With two glasses of wine and a Singha, the bill was $48.

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! It is delicious! (And I was pleased to discover that they also deliver!)
