Almaty, Kazakhstan - A slice of Americana at Hard Rock Cafe

klyeoh | Dec 5, 201409:42 AM

I'd posted about this one the Chains board, but thought that folks hoping to visit Almaty would be more likely to refer to this board. HRC here in Almaty is just over a month old, so may be one of the newest in the chain. What I tried there:

- Hard Rock Nachos: tortilla chips with three-bean mix, mixed cheese, pico de gallo, jalapenos and green onions, topped with sour cream. I guess this outlet must be new: the nachos were the 2nd-worst I'd tasted at a HRC outlet (the worst was at HRC Mumbai when it was 3-months-old when I was there in 2006 - the nachos there also tasted 3 months old then).

- Grilled horse-meat medallions, of course. The Kazakhs have a strong affinity for equine meat - and I do find it more aromatic than beef, and has a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Very good.
