After attending the Philippe de Vienne party last night, we decided to head to Petit Alep but the place was full so we went next door to take advantage of the expanded menu. The place was equally packed. Service was professional and quite fast. Food was amazing. We started with Fatouch and stuffed vine leaves. The salad was really good with crispy veggies and pita and a nice vinegary bite. The vine leaves we amazing. Soft and chewy and sweet. It went great with an italian white wine which and gave it a slight red licorice flavour. For mains, I had a dish of kofte in a rich tahini sauce with grilled pita. Although it was really good with lots of garlic and a good lemon bite, the richness of it was a bit overwhelming. The GF had also a dish of kofte in a yogourt and mint sauce that was much lighter and really good. The portions were pretty big and both us didn't finish them. The size of the plates are smaller next door which is fine by me. All in all, a really good meal that came to $80 with 2 apps, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and a good tip. I never tasted something I didn't like that came out of that kitchen.
