Alcazar Encino Lunch

lil mikey | Apr 19, 2008 11:50 AM

The outside back patio is delightful on a day when it’s not too hot.

The veggie lunch special is well presented on a triangular plate with a side bowl of falafels and spinach dumpling.

The hummus was uninspiring, but the baba ghanoush was deliciously smoky-tasting. And it was moist and slightly chunky as I like it.

The tabouli was fresh-tasting, with lots of crisp chopped parsley. The dolmades were filled with a flavorful mixture of vegetables and a tiny bit of raisin or something else kind of sweet. They were unusual and tasty.

The falafels were dry and a bit grainy, but the baked spinach dumpling was cooked perfectly and spiced exactly how I like it.

You get a whole basket of pita bread, but as we ate, it seriously dried up to the point that it was more like pita chips by the time we were finished.

This was a great lunch for about $10, and I plan to go back soon and try some of the other dishes.
