Albondigas at Teresitas Family Restaurant

David Kahn | Jul 9, 200408:23 PM

At Russkar's suggestion, I made the trek over to Teresitas Family Restaurant (3826 E. 1st St., (323) 266-6045) to sample their albondigas. Teresitas' serves both chicken and beef albondigas, but only on Tuesdays as a special. In contrast to most albondigas I've had, these were incredibly light and delicate, almost falling apart at the touch of a spoon. While Teresitas' broth is not as intense, and doesn't have the amazing density of flavor one finds at Mi India Bonita (4731 E. Olympic Blvd., (323) 267-8505), it has a nice clean taste, and plenty of perfectly cooked vegies. All in all, I have to say I favor Mi India Bonita, but Teresitas is damn good, and since they offer a chicken albondigas option, it's great for those (like Mrs. K) who try to avoid beef. Also, the place has it's own parking lot, a nice, family run sort of atmosphere, and very good chips and salsa. Well worth a trip. (Russkar tells me they often run out of soup on Tuesdays, so get there early.)
