Alamo, NV Road Trip

I did a mini road trip out of Las Vegas this weekend that unexpectedly featured a chowhound find! Went N on I-15 to Glendale/Moapa Valley, then on to Alamo. While driving around, spotted the Windmill Cafe and Bakery (on Broadway LOL...a left off of 93). Had a wonderful chicken sandwich on home made bread (she kept asking about the goodies I wanted on it besides lettuce and tomato...such as cucumbers, green peppers, olives!) Also took home a still-warm loaf of whole wheat, sunflower seed bread -- amazing! They have a prime rib special for dinner on Mother's Day weekend and I think they are open for all three meals...the breakfast and lunch menu looks wonderful, anyway.

Took my sandwich about 10 miles down the road to Ash Springs...complete with swimming hole and tall cottonwoods...wonderful!

There is so much more to Southern Nevada than the Strip!
