I am planning a European trip for June/july with my boyfriend, who has never been to Europe before. So far we are going to spend some time in London, and in Holland, but most of the trip will be in Italy, where I am currently studying. We will city-hop between Venice, Bologna and Ravenna, but here comes the parts I am unsure of:
1. A couple of days in the countryside with a car.
I am looking for a region with beautiful driving scenery, not too industrial, etc. I was thinking Umbria, but perhaps somewhere in the north, It needs to be an area with good places to stop for great, simple food, either small towns with B&Bs or agroturismo farms.
2. A couple of days in self-catering accomodation by the sea. I want a place that's not too big, but must have a wonderful farmer's market, food opportunities. Perhaps somewhere in Le Marche?
Any suggestions from chowhounds who have had good food experiences in this sort of holiday would be greatly appreciated! many thanks.
