Affordable view (maybe)

Loose On the Lead | Mar 12, 2002 03:58 PM

I'm a former L.A. resident who's bringing his D.C. girlfriend back to his hometown for a week or so. On Thursday, March 28, we and my parents plan to visit the Getty, come back to Beverly Hills for a pit stop, and then...well, that's my question.

I'd like a place with a nice view. The view does not have to be of the ocean, although that's the first thing that comes to mind. Ideally, prices should be around $40 per person. Less is perfectly acceptable. :-) Ethnic cuisines are iffy--my parents would probably object to anything beyond Asian Fusion. Oh, and since this will be my girlfriend's first time in L.A., anything quintessentially L.A.-ish (interpret that however you like) gets extra credit.

As points of reference, the places we're currently considering are The Gray Whale, Cafe Del Rey, and Pane E Vino. Okay, the last doesn't have a great view, but it's nice otherwise (or so I'm told), very affordable, and doesn't pose a big traffic risk coming from BH. The Inn of the Seventh Ray would be in the running if its food were better.

Thanks for your help!
