Advice on Visiting Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney

astrieanna | Nov 25, 201409:16 AM

I'm visiting Australia for 2 weeks (from the US) to speak at a conference; I've never been there before, and I'd like some suggestions on where to eat.

I won't have a car while I'm there. In Melbourne, I'll be staying near Albert Park. In Brisbane, I'll be near the South Brisbane/South Bank metro stops. In Sydney, I'll be near Coogee Beach. (Sorry if these are strange ways to specify an area; I'm trying to discern helpful landmarks from Google Maps.)

I'm happy to take public transit or walk about 30min to food. In Melbourne, I'll have about 3 days to explore, so I'll probably stray further from the hotel -- so recommendations further away are welcome.

I'm especially interested in anything that's better or more available in Australia than the US. I like most kinds of food, as long as it's good. ;)
